The Best Surf Watch

I have been in and around the water for over 15 years now, most of which being while I was in school or working. Having those other commitments required me to always be wearing a watch while out in the water and I have tried pretty much all the potential options. From $5 Wal-Mart specials, to top of the line surf specific watches. After trying so many options, I have found what I believe to be the best watch for surfers.

Nixon - Base Tide Pro

Why do I think that this Nixon watch is the best surf watch? It comes down to three main factors. Water-Proof-ness, Comfort and Features

Water-Proof-ness

I know that that isn't a word, but you get what I am trying to say. I have had this watch for 2 years now and it is still perfectly waterproof. There are no signs of leaking and I have been impressed with the overall durability of the watch. I don’t do anything to take care of it and it keeps trucking along.

Comfort

I love how this watch feels on my arm. The silicone strap is very soft and wraps nicely around my wrist. One complaint I do have is how thick it is. It's not bad in normal life but does feel a bit bulky underneath a wetsuit.

Features

This watch comes with everything you would expect from a digital watch (timer, alarm, etc.) but the main feature I use is the tide graph. It’s convenient to have on your wrist for quick reference. Also, Nixon does make this watch using some recycled plastic which is always nice. Finally, it comes in a variety of colors to suit pretty much any preference.

Overall, I love this watch. It is my go-to accessory for surfing before or during work and keeps me on time. Feel free to check them out below.

(P.S. The above link is an affiliate link where I get a cut if you buy something. That doesn’t affect my opinion of the watch at all. I bought this watch myself and will buy another one when the time comes.)
