Sticky Channels - Review

I was scrolling through Instagram a while ago and came across a product I have never heard of before, Sticky Channels. Based off the pictures, they look like little wakeboard fins but you can stick them on surfboards. I was intrigued so I reached out to them and they had some in the mail for me just hours later.

What are Sticky Channels?

Sticky Channels are these little plastic fins that you can stick to the bottom of your board. They are designed to increase drive and hold without increasing drag. They are super easy to install and can completely change the feel and performance of your board.

Do they work?

Yes! Adding Sticky Channels to my board definitely added hold and drive when surfing. They are super interesting because they are usually a couple of inches off the stringer of your board, so you are adding grip right beneath your back foot. On bigger waves, this helps take pressure off your toes or heels during drops and re-entries making so many maneuvers easier.

Why and when would I use Sticky Channels?

You can use these guys in so many different ways. I added them to my daily driver and take it out in bigger surf. Where I would normally slip out on my bottom turns, these help add the traction I need to pump up into the pocket and down the line.

They are also great for experimentation. Ever wonder what your twin would be like as a quad? Now you can without having to order a custom board. Maybe you have a single fin but wonder what it would be like with side bites. Now you can try it out without having to commit to expensive fins.

 Overall

I was surprised by Sticky Channels. I thought they would either do nothing or just fall off after a wave or two. I am happy that I was wrong! These little guys really do change the performance of your board giving you just enough extra hold to help you in tight situations. They can be kind of a pain to remove, but for ~$20 you can't go wrong.

Check them out @StickyChannels and on their site, here.
