UMI BRUSH Review

If you're anything like me, your car is a little dirty from the beach. Between sandy feet, dirty wetsuits, melty wax and salty surfboards, I’d given up on keeping my car clean. Recently, I was at a surf shop and saw one of those brushes designed to clean off sandy feet. Thinking there might be some hope of having a cleaner car, I gave it a shot. I quickly realized that if your feet are still wet, the brush will just smear the sand around your foot and not actually clean it off.

Around this time, I was scrolling through Instagram and I saw an ad for UMI BRUSH. The video claimed that it was designed to clean off sandy feet. Intrigued, I went to their website to learn more. I found out that there’s a compartment they fill with corn starch which dries your feet and helps get all the sand off. I decided I wanted to see if this would work so I reached out to them and they were kind enough to send me one to test. Here are my thoughts:

Functionality:

The first thing I did when I got the brush was see if it actually cleaned sandy feet. To put it to the test, I went for a surf at a local spot where you have to hike up and down a bluff. By the time I got back to my car, my feet were covered in sand and dirt so I gave it a go with the UMI BRUSH. To my disappointment, it didn't do too much, but I was determined to figure it out.

After some testing, I figured out that it works best getting the last bit of sand off your feet. What I normally do is find grass nearby where I clean most of the sand off my feet and then use the UMI BRUSH to get them nice and clean for the rest of the day.

So, if you’re getting dressed before work or a day out, the Umi Brush will do a great job of getting your feet clean and ready for a day of being crammed in shoes. The corn starch is great at drying your feet and works as a natural deodorant.

Design:

My favorite part about this brush is how compact it is. It’s so easy to just have in my car and forget about it but it’s always ready for me post-surf. The other brush I tried was large and got in the way, where with the UMI BRUSH, it easily fits in a glove box or the pocket behind the front seats.

I was worried about the cap not creating a good seal and having the corn starch spill out and get all over my car. These fears were unfounded and there is no spillage, even after having it roll around my trunk for a couple of weeks.

Price:

Currently, the UMI BRUSH costs $18 and it’s totally worth it. I frequently surf before work or going out with friends and it's great to be able to have clean feet for the rest of the day.

Overall:

I’m super stoked with the UMI Brush and so happy I found it. It’s been a great addition to my post surf routine and even after just walking on the beach. I highly recommend you check out UMI BRUSH and give them a follow on Instagram, @umi_brush.
