BeachBox - Review
Today we are going to take a look at one of the cooler products I've had the chance to review, The BeachBox. It is a big Tupperware-like storage box, but so much more. It has custom made divider pieces that keep your wet stuff (wetsuits, booties, etc) separate from your dry stuff (towels, clothes, etc.) and comes with a portable shower, custom made to fit in the corner of the box. This thing has everything you need for a day at the beach, hiking or anything else. But let's take a closer look:
Durability
The BeachBox is made of some pretty high quality and thick plastic. I’ve thrown it around a little and it shows no signs of wear or cracking. It's definitely a lot stronger than any storage box you would pick up at Wal-Mart. All of the pieces are well built and didn’t give me any issues when setting it up or during use.
The one thing where I could see a potential problem is the connections to the water tank. Those are also made of plastic and it can be a little tough to get them on tight enough to create an airtight seal. I had to crank them down with a wrench and the teeth tore up the plastic a little. Everything still works great, but may be an issue in the future. One solution to this problem is that you could just not be dumb, like me, and use something softer to tighten the connections.
The Shower
Easily the best part of The BeachBox is the portable shower. It's very satisfying that it fits perfectly in its little corner and takes up very little space. Other than the issue I had with the connectors that I mentioned before, It's perfect. It holds plenty of water to rinse off after a session and to clean out my suit. I fill it up with tap water that I let get hot first. Over 2 hours later, the water is still hot so it’s perfect for cold dawn patrol sessions.
I wasn't sure what to expect by way of water pressure, but it's not too shabby. This was the first portable shower I’ve used, so I can’t really compare it to any other products. It doesn't really compare to a regular shower but gets the job done, so no complaints.
Overall
This thing is killer. It is the perfect companion for any outdoor activity, not just beach days. One thing to keep in mind is that it is quite large. I drive a Subaru Forester and it takes up just about half of my trunk. This requires me to put my boards on rail to fit. Not an issue if you use roof racks, but something to consider. It should still fit easily in any car trunk.
You should 100% pick this up. Drop them a follow @thebeachboxco.
